How should I prepare for my Eyelash Extension Appointment?

Do not apply mascara or curl your eyelashes on the day . Please arrive makeup free around the eye area - this includes cream as it can cause the patches to slip and slide on the skin. I cleanse the lashes thoroughly, twice before starting but failure to comply would mean extra time cleaning, cutting into treatment time so less time to actually lash.

Can I wear contact lenses?

It is advised to not wear contact lenses during treatment as you will have your eyes closed for a long period of time. It will not only dry your eyes out but the glue fumes chemically reacting with the lens can cause serious damage on the eye.

How long does the treatment take and why does it take so long?

An allocated time of 2 hours 30 is reserved for each appointment booked. This includes for new clients: 10-15 minute consultation, 10-15 minute cleanse and prepping the natural lashes, 1 hour 45 minutes lashing, 15 minutes check for stickies, finish up, take payment and aftercare. If done correctly, each individual lash is isolated with one single extension (fan or single lash) is placed upon this one lash.

How long do Lash Extensions last?

Lashes can last up to 6-8 weeks without infills. Every client is different and It all depends on how well you can maintain the lashes (washing daily or every other day minimum them means longer lasting retention), eyelash growth cycle, lifestyle and other factors have an affect on how long they can last. Infills are usually 2-3 weeks, maximum 4 weeks but again depending on lash growth! During infills, we remove the lashes that are outgrown and replace them with new extensions and fill the ones that have lost an extension too/have shed.

When do I come for infills?

Each eyelash has its own growth cycle. It is normal for 1-5 real eyelashes to shed every day, we just don’t notice it until we have extensions, We recommend our customers to come back and have an infill every 2-3 weeks, maximum of 4 weeks to maintain their lashes. After the treatment, we usually advise the customers to see how they get on with the lashes and to get back to us within 1 week to book in for their infill (alongside a picture of the lashes) so we can roughly guess when the best time is to come back and how long they’ll need.

How do I know what suits me?

Prior to the treatment there will be a 10 minute consultation with our clients to understand what look it is they desire based on preference, lifestyle, natural lashes, eye shape etc. Customers can choose the curl, diameter, length, fullness and styling of the lashes according to their personal preference and show pictures to give us an idea of what they want. Our Lash Expert will also provide advice based on their knowledge of what would suit their client best to take into consideration.

I’m pregnant.. Can I get Lash Extensions?

Yes you can. Please notify our Lash Expert and they will book out extra time to ensure you are comfortable throughout the treatment and have time to stretch. Please bare in mind pregnancy can cause changes within our body and hormones (e.g produce more oil on the lids or the lash growth is faster). Therefore, the lashes may not last as well.

I have very short and thin lashes.. Can I get Lash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are suitable for all clients. If your eyelashes are short or thin, it can be done, but we would recommend using shorter lengths, a lighter diameter of the lashes, and a lighter set overall so that the natural lashes can carry the weight and avoid damaging them.

Can I get Lash Extensions after a Lash Lift?

After a lash lift has been done, we recommend to wait for all eyelashes to return to their original state before extensions. This can be up to 6-8 weeks. If the eyelashes are not back to normal and still curly, it just means it’s more difficult to place the extensions on the natural lash as less surface area for the attachment of the glue, and could result in the lashes not lasting as well as they should.

How to know if I’m not suitable for eyelash extensions?

If there are abnormalities around the eyes area (e.g blepharitis and other diseases), or have eye plastic surgery in the past 7-14 days, or have had laser eye surgery in the past few months is not suitable for eyelash extensions as they can be super dry and irritated.

A patch test is performed for first time lash extension wearers in case of an allergic reaction. If you have an allergy towards the glue, this means you are not suitable to wear eyelash extensions, and will continue to get worse every time you try to get them as your body is trying to fight off the infection just like a virus.

What should I know before and during the treatment?

Please come to your appointment makeup free and no creams/oils around the eye area. Avoid caffeine especially coffee prior to your appointment. Do not open your eyes when having eyelashes extension to avoid discomfort. If you have any discomfort during eyelash extensions, please inform our Lash Expert. To avoid affecting the treatment progress, please turn the phone to mute. If you’re eyes are quite sensitive they may be red after the treatment. This should settle within 72 hours maximum if it persists after 3 hours post appointment. In this case, eye drops and antihistamines will help settle the eyes.

How do I maintain and look after my lashes?

After the treatment is completed, the eyelashes are still drying. The Lash Expert will apply a binder which will begin the curing process at a faster rate however It is recommended that you must avoid water around the eye area for 24-48 hours. Avoid places with high temperature and humidity such as sauna, bath, steam, etc. In addition, avoid using oil-based makeup remover or skin care products.
You must not rub or pull at your lashes as this may damage your own natural lashes.Lashes should be cleaned if not daily, every other day. If you wear makeup or even if you don’t, there is a build-up on the lashes of natural oils, dirt, residue etc, so cleaning the lashes if super important for longer lasting lashes. They will also feel a lot cleaner once they’ve been washed and will open up fans and get them back to their fluffy, original state.
